Inner Journey 01/03/18

ARRIVAL 01/03/18

Finally!  I did not think that this moment would ever come.  I was so exhausted and hungry that much of the excitement was over.  I just wanted to go change my clothes and stretch.  I was not looking forward to fitting down the tiny stairwell again with all my luggage.  I prayed that the luggage I checked was there and not tore up.  I have had my luggage bag destroyed before.  There she was being thrown into the cart for pick-up.  We quickly took a picture of our 17 hour home (the train) as we hustled inside the train station to wait for our luggage.  We got our luggage only to find out my friends luggage could not be found.  I felt terrible for her.  It was just too much and very overwhelming at that point.  We needed to rush off to the hotel to drop off luggage and rush out the door to our dinner reservation and we had to figure out what to do about her luggage.  Come to find out her luggage had been accidently taken out at the stop before ours.  How does that even happen?  All they could say was sorry!  SORRY!  They had no idea what we had been through the last 17 hours.  She quickly gave them her information and said the luggage will be delivered tomorrow to our hotel.  I just don’t know if I trust that.  We quickly called an Uber.  It was my first experience with an Uber.  I am glad they are cheaper than a taxi, but it is a strange concept to me that people just volunteer their cars to be a taxi.  The guy who picked us up was very nice.  Come to find out he was originally from Chicago.  He was very easy to talk to and kept us engaged in conversion.  The hotel was nicer than I thought it was going to be.  I wish I had more time to take it in, but we rushed off to dinner at the Pierre Maspero’s.  I had the blackened shrimp fettuccini and cheesy grits.  It was very good except for the grits. They were kind of bleh.  Everyone’s dinner was very good, we all tried something different and enjoyed it.  From there we went to Café Du Monde to try Beignets.  They reminded me of a funnel cake.  It was very good.  Then we headed back to our hotel that seemed to go on forever.  It was only 1.1 miles but seemed like it was never going to come to an end.  But it did and here we are about to collapse and fall over in our rooms.  We quickly freshened up due to not being able to before.  Here I sit reflecting on my day and what has taken place.  It is very difficult to due this when you’re exhausted, and the internet is not working on your computer. Everyone is getting a little bit irritatted and ready to crash.  I can barely keep my eyes open and the internet is not working.  I am over the day!!
