Each day has been an eye opener in this city. I am just overwhelmed by the amount of history that is in this little state. I feel like I know more information about Louisiana than I know about my own state. There is so much rich culture it is hard to take it all in. The tours we have been on have repeated some of the same information, but it must be true if they’re all saying the same information. I found it odd how the cemetery is separated by religion. The city is a very strong catholic community. It is interesting how Catholicism has continued to be carried on through the generation. You do not find a lot of other religions nor do they really talk about other religions. I love the sense in the community that they are so strong in what they believe in. I like that I do not feel like an outcast when I walk around. I thought for sure that I would look and feel like a tourist. I’m sure that the people that live here can tell I am a tourist, but they are very welcoming people. Of course you will find that one person that will have a problem with you. Those people probably have problems with themselves too. I just have to laugh those people off and move on because they are not with my time.
We went on a pharmacy tour. It was a little interesting. Some of the things that they did back then I just don’t get. I know that life was a guessing game and they played around with things just to try and get some result other than death. Sometimes death was inevitable. I found it interesting that the doctor put jars in their front window to let people know if there was a bad illness going around to warn the people. It was interesting to see that some of the equipment that was used years ago is still being used and practiced with today.

I was not looking forward to the ghost tour. I thought it was going to be scary. I am not into that kind of stuff. I don’t watch scary movies and I don’t like to be in complete darkness. I felt that the tour was more informational and historical than a scary ghost tour. It was irritating that there were locals that would pass by and act immature and make ghostly noises. There is more to what we were doing than hoping to see a ghost. I can still say that I do no believe in the ghostly hocus pocus but I was dreaming about ghosts last night. That stuff just tends to mess with my mind. I believe that it is he fear of the unknown of death. I do know that there are unexplained events that have occurred but I do not know that a ghost is the best explanation. I did take pictures and am afraid to look at them still:)
