| Oh just a little fun with the statues while we're waiting on the train. |
 |
| Real excited...THOUGHT we were boarding. |
 |
| Just some besties getting some fresh air |
And I’m off!
The mad
rush of leaving class; stopping by the bank to get some mullah; fitting in lots
of hugs, kisses, goodbyes, and throwing all the last-minute items together; has
left me leaving in a frazzle.
The moment
I have been anticipating is finally here.
We arrived at the train station 2 hours before departure, or so we
thought!!
The train station was
exciting.
I felt like a little kid who
has been waiting to get on a ride.
We
pulled in dropped off our luggage with a couple of friends then we parked the
car.
It was a little bit of a hike back
to the station in the negative degree weather.
I could feel the coldness on my teeth.
Each breath was like biting into an invisible popsicle.
The train station was bright inside.
The smell was not pleasant when we walked in,
good thing we had to go up a floor to wait.
There was only one elevator and only three of us could fit in with our
luggage.
Luggage!
So much luggage!
All the last-minute items I packed were left
overflowing from my bags and I was rolling luggage, carrying a backpack, had
another bag on top of the bag I was rolling, carrying a pillow and blanket, and
a Wal-Mart bag of snacks.
In that moment
I missed my family and was reminded how much they help momma out.
We got to the top floor and sat and
waited.
The anticipation was still there
and so was the excitement of our journey actually beginning.
Little did we know that our journey would
keep getting prolonged.
The odds were
not in our favor last night.
We thought
that it was close to departure time and an announcement was made that there was
going to be a 40-minute delay.
That was
rough because remember we had already arrived 2 hours early.
We made the most of it.
My group of friends and I had girl talk.
Got to know each other more on a deeper level
and had fun playing around with the statues at the bus station.
The bus station was filled with fun,
laughter, and people staring at us wondering what we were all doing as a group
together.
The forty-minute delay turned
into a three-hour delay!!
THREE
HOURS!!
By that time people were
exhausted, irritated, and ready to give-up on the trip.
We become a group of cranky toddlers that had
missed nap time.
Finally, they announced
us to line up.
You would have thought
our group had won the grand prize.
It
was a mad dash to grab belongings and line-up like we were in Kindergarten.
We stood there in line for 20 more
minutes.
My backpack weighed 100 pounds
on my back and was digging into my shoulders.
My fingers and arms were going numb from hanging onto my
belongings.
At that moment I was sorry
that I had suggested making the trip.
Part of me wanted to cry because I was tired and wanted to be home
laying in bed next to my husband and listening to the familiar settling of my
home.
But alas we would board the train
at the wee hours of the morning and try to settle in for the long ride ahead.
