Outer Journey-MUSIC

We have heard so much music as we walk through the streets of New Orleans.  Your ear never hears a silent moment.  As you walk the streets you hear people trying to make an honest living, hoping to get someone to stop, listen, and drop a dollar or two.  As I watch from afar the people thoroughly enjoy what they are playing and doing.  They have a since of connection that brings them together and the people that are walking up and down the streets.  There is a man tap dancing to the beat of his own drum.  At first you would think that he is wearing tap shoes.  As I approach I see there is something sticking out around his shoes.  He bends over as one of the things falls off.  Upon a closer look I notice that the “things” appear to be smashed soda cans with a thumbtack through them.  He then steps on the thumb tack placing it through his shoes.  I would never had known the difference between tap shoes and his smashed soda cans.  I do not know where he came up with the rhythm, but he kept a constant shuffle.  As I turn my ear from him tapping you hear music coming from the next building, and the next, and the next.  You can hear just about any type of music that you want to as you walk along the streets of New Orleans.  Sometimes there was a full band sitting on a corner or set up half in the street.  There were various kinds of instruments in the bands.  From piano, saxophone, tambourine, drums, the trumpet, violins, guitars, to the washboard.  It was crazy the amount of talent that was sitting out on the streets of New Orleans.
The Club that I enjoyed
As we walked past one of the places that has live music a girl singing caught my ear.  She was singing a cover song and it sounded so good.  I kept walking just to hear the diverse types of music available.  I decided I wanted to head back and listen to the girl sing.  It was night time and the side walks were alive and filled with people.  By the time we got back to the bar where the girl was singing they had moved on to another singer.  I don’t know enough about music to even know what type of music that I am listening to.  I believe the guy that was up singing was singing blues style music with modern songs.  There was plenty of room in the bar so I could sit and get a full view of the band and singer.  I can’t help but move my body to the music.  Music just makes the soul feel alive.  It brings people together and they forget about their cares and get lost in the music.  Fun and laughter fill the air as people sing, dance, and carry on.  Music doesn’t have an age.  People of all ages are drawn in.  Music has the ability to stir the senses, bring people together, trigger the emotions and transcend the boundaries of the heart and mind.
